ESAN is based in Ipswich with an office located in the grounds of St Clements Hospital (location map below).

We have one full time advocacy worker, two part time advocacy workers who specialise in Diversity and Discrimination Advocacy and Parents' Advocacy (see Specialist Advocacy Services on the left hand menu for more information), and two volunteer advocates. All our advocates have followed an advocacy training programme, attended various training courses and conferences and have gained a thorough knowledge of the mental health system. We don't give advice, particulary in areas of finance and benefits, but if this is what you need, we will direct you to those who provide it.

At present, clients are usually seen within 1-2 weeks of the initial contact. People can self refer, ask a relative/friend to refer for them or a professional can contact us with the clients consent. We usually arrange to meet with clients at the ESAN office, however, if this is not possible we can arrange to see clients at a mutually convenient venue.

The office is open from Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4pm. There may be occasions when the office isn't manned due to client meetings or training etc, however messages can be left on the answerphone and will be returned as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can email us using the 'contact us' section on the website, or leave written messages at the main reception at St Clements Hospital.
